ADC's "Free and Fair" Promise Crumbles as Ticket-Buying Allegations Spread Beyond Morris Monye
The Action Democratic Congress positioned itself as a clean alternative to APC and PDP. Now multiple aspirants are alleging that nomination tickets are being sold — and the party's silence is deafening.

When the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) opened its doors to aspirants ahead of the 2027 election cycle, it marketed itself aggressively as the party that had learned from the failures of APC and PDP. "Our process is transparent. Our tickets are earned, not bought," a party official told journalists in Abuja in March.
That promise is now under serious scrutiny. The public confrontation between Jack "The Builder" Ng01 and Morris Monye — in which Jack accused Morris of paying for his State House of Assembly ticket not once but twice — has opened a floodgate of similar allegations from other aspirants.
More Voices Come Forward
Since Jack's tweet went viral, The Trojan Beast has received messages from three other ADC aspirants in different states who claim they were asked to make "administrative payments" to secure their nominations. All three requested anonymity, citing fears of being blacklisted by the party.
"They called it a "processing fee." But when I asked what it was processing, nobody could give me a straight answer. I paid because I had no choice."

The Party's Silence
ADC's national secretariat has not responded to requests for comment from The Trojan Beast. The party's official X account has been silent since the controversy erupted, a stark contrast to its usually active social media presence.
Political analysts say the silence is itself telling. "When a party is confident in its processes, it defends them publicly," said Chidi Nwosu, a political risk consultant based in Abuja. "Silence in the face of specific, named allegations usually means the allegations are at least partially true."
The Bigger Picture
Nigeria's smaller parties have long struggled with the same internal corruption that plagues the major parties. The difference is that ADC attracted a significant number of former Obidient Movement members precisely because they believed it was different. If the ticket-buying allegations are proven, the fallout will extend far beyond ADC itself — it will further deepen the cynicism of a generation of Nigerians who were just beginning to re-engage with electoral politics.
"Every election cycle, a new party promises to be different. Every election cycle, we find out it isn't. Nigeria is running out of parties to believe in."
— Yetunde Adeyemi, civic educator and former Obidient organiser
At press time, Morris Monye's tweet remained live. Jack's receipts remained in his drafts. And ADC remained silent.
